Carnivorous plants in their evolution have developed special systems to capture and digest insects; for this reason they can be defined carnivorous or insectivorous.
They need a substrate with an acid pH (less than 5) devoid of nutrients and especially nitrogen, which is thus integrated by the plant through the digestion of animal proteins.
Thanks to the presence of Irish and Baltic peats, the substrate maintains its acidity, drainage capacity and increases water retention at the same time. Baltic peat gives softness to the substrate and maintains an acid pH, essential for the cultivation of this type of plant; the superfine Irish peat makes the soil more draining and softer, at the same time increasing water retention and adding organic matter.
Finally, the selected perlite allows to increase the aeration with positive effects on the root system and on the development of the plant.
