Soil studied following the ancient Japanese traditions: the health of the tree depends on the roots and the health of the roots also depends on the soil.
In a smaller bonsai pot, this relationship is much more binding. In fact, in a bonsai pot, the height-width ratio is very small and this makes drainage more difficult.
For this reason, our substrate contains a high percentage of siliceous substances which guarantee excellent drainage and increase the macroporosity which is essential for maintaining a good level of ventilation, without which the roots tend to rot.
For the formulation it was decided to use Irish peat which has an excellent water retention capacity, while the presence of humic substances and clay guarantee a strong buffering power and uniform humidification of the root ball.
