OUTDOOR use
Pierce the vase under the base with a screwdriver or a drill to avoid water stagnation.
Place expanded clay or other draining material on the bottom of the pot.
Insert a layer of material such as non-woven fabric in order to guarantee the passage of water but not of solids.
Place a layer of potting soil and lay the plant on top. Finally, cover the plant with soil until the pot is filled.
INDOOR use
Insert another vase containing the plant inside the vase and use a suitable saucer at the base.
If you wish to proceed without another pot, you can proceed as above by drilling the pot.
However, remember to use a saucer to avoid wetting the floor.
EXTRA tip
It is also possible to drill the vase in the side wall about 3/5 cm from the bottom in order to create a "fake saucer" inside.
Fill that space with expanded clay, then non-woven fabric and finally potting soil.
In this way, unless very abundant watering, the excess water will remain inside the vase and will not come out creating problems.
Is the pot suitable for outdoor use?
Yes, the pot can be placed outdoors. If it is not drilled, it is necessary to drill the base with a screwdriver, a drill or a screwdriver to drain excess water in case of rain. Multiple small holes are preferable to one very large hole.
Finally insert a layer of expanded clay on the bottom of the pot to prevent the soil from coming out of the holes. We also recommend, for very tall vases, to weigh down the bottom with pebbles or sand to avoid tipping over.
Do you need to take any precautions indoors?
We recommend using a layer of expanded clay on the bottom of the pot. This allows excess water not to stagnate but to retain the humidity necessary for the roots of the plant.
Is the pot built to withstand low and high temperatures?
Yes, the pot is able to withstand all weather conditions, summer and winter. However, remember that, unlike pots, plants are not particularly resistant to frost.
Will the color stay the same over time?
Yes, the pots are UV resistant and do not discolour.
Is the vase resistant to shocks?
The plastic used to make the vase is very resistant and, even in the event of a fall from a small height, the vase will not be damaged. Particularly sharp or pointed objects, on the other hand, can damage it.
How can I clean the vase?
A common non-abrasive degreaser is fine for cleaning any vase

What is the self watering set available in Lechuza products?
Lechuza pots are designed to ensure plant sustenance even when you are not at home or forget to water them.
First you have to wait for the roots of the plant to reach the container of the pot. Usually this process takes 3 months, a period of time in which you will have to take care of the plant in the traditional way.
After this period it is only necessary to fill the tank with water and the plant itself will absorb the amount of water it needs. The only operation to do will be to fill the tank again when the indicator has reached the minimum level. The plant normally takes 2 to 12 weeks to use up all the water.
To keep your plants looking their best, we recommend periodically adding liquid fertilizer to your water supply.
